Permanent Hair Reduction

Click HERE for SUMMER '17 SPECIAL OFFERS

You will be treated with the British manufactured Energist i300 system performing hair removal by intense pulse light or IPL (commonly referred to as laser hair removal). The Energist i300 uses short, safe, controlled pulses of intense light to remove unwanted hair quickly and effectively. Carefully selected and specific wavelengths are absorbed by melanin, the pigment found in hair. This absorption process produces heat, which heats the hair, damaging the follicle along with its ability to regenerate. Hundreds of hair follicles are treated with each pulse, making this a fast and effective way to treat unwanted hair.

Clients are recommended to take a course of 8-10 treatments on each area. Treatments need to be spaced 4-8 weeks apart to accomodate the natural hair growth cycle. Your skin type will be determined at your initial consultation and a test patch will be performed using the system settings that best suit your individual features. The hair covering the treatment area will be trimmed (or may be shaved/ or removed with hair removal cream the day before) and a cooling gel applied ensuring that the light is used effectively, to give maximum results from your Energist treatment.

Your skin will then be exposed to a series of light pulses.

Hairs treated will fall out naturally over a period of one to three weeks leaving your skin feeling smooth and looking silky.

What is the difference between lasers and IPL machines?

Both Laser and IPL machines produce light energy which is absorbed by the dark pigments in the hair. This energy causes damage to the hair follicle, ultimately leading to permanent hair reduction. Laser machines generate a single wavelength of light. This concentrated light in one single colour targets specifically the melanin in the hair follicle. A benefit of a laser machine is it can be used on darker afro-caribbean skin types. IPL can be distinguished from Laser as it produces a broad spectrum of wavelengths. Both types of machine work well for pigmented (dark) hair and light, olive or asian skin types. A major benefit to IPL is improved skin condition as a by-product of the treatment because it uses broad spectrum light, so can dramatically help improve skin condition (a major benefit to clients who suffer ingrowing hairs). The Engerist i300 machine can also be used to treat acne so general improvements in the look and condition of the skin in the treated area are likely to be achieved along with hair removal and an improvement/ erradication of in-growing hairs.

In essence "If you have olive skin or lighter coloured skin, both laser and IPL machines will work exactly the same and provide the exact same results."

How effective will the treatment be?

The Energist i300 IPL machine is a high quality machine so you can expect good results from this treatment. After 8-10 treatments you can typically expect a 70-90% permanent clearance of hair. Most clients will be virtually hair free after 8-10 sessions. Others, particularly darker skin types  such as asian skin may need a couple more as the energy level of the machine must be set lower for this skin type.
